welcome

Welcome to Kelsey Bigelow Photography. I am overjoyed that you have found your way here. I am a newborn, baby and family photographer in Denver, Colorado. From time to time, I am also fortunate enough to capture love stories.

I believe real life is beautiful. Specifically, I believe your life is beautiful. It is unique, special and it absolutely must be captured because real life is also fleeting and the ordinary today can be gone tomorrow. As an adult, I cling to the images of my childhood every day because it no longer exists in the same way and to the images of those who are no longer with me.

I believe in the importance of family, both mine and yours. I believe family is both what you are born into and also the friends who become family. Family is number one to me. Always. I continue to search in my lens to define “family” and what it means to belong here with those who we call “family.”

I believe in doing what you love. I am very fortunate to have found the thing that makes my heart sing. Getting to witness and capture so many stories is my joy.

I would be delighted to witness and capture your story.

One Saturday Morning

We wanted so badly to see The Lumineers at Red Rocks this September and had tried for days to get tickets. So naturally, when we finally got tickets Saturday morning, we invited our friend & her little one over and made pancakes to celebrate. Of course.

Leah & Richard- Chief Hosa Lodge

Leah and Richard got married at the Chief Hosa Lodge in the Colorado mountains, in between April snow storms. The Lodge is a gorgeous venue surrounded by high trees and mountain tops. The snow on the ground made me feel we had taken a vacation to the Swiss Alps. Leah and Richard were surrounded by family and friends who all pitched in to make their wedding day special and unique. It was a joy to be there!

Maria & Jason

It was a lot of fun to photograph at the Greeley State Armory and be back in my old college town. Maria and Jason had a wedding day filled with laughter, giggles and happiness. I knew it was going to be a great wedding when I saw this was their proposal video. Seriously, if you need a pick me up this morning, watch it! They are a couple who are so great together and it was so apparent that they make each other very happy. Bonus: their daughter Accalia is perhaps the cutest flower girl I’ve ever seen. I wish your family a lifetime of happiness, Maria & Jason, and best wishes for wherever you’re stationed next! P.S. Thank you to Kendal for being my second photographer!

Eloise’s Nursery

Eloise is one lucky lady. She has a perfectly stylish and elegant Paris to London themed nursery. It was so fun to walk around in her nursery and see all the amazing details Eloise’s mom, Julia, has included. From the basket handmade by Eloise’s grandma holding her cloth diapers to the “Eloise” books on the shelf, it was one cute and carefully thought out detail after another. And from a family with such style I wouldn’t expect anything else. Can we just pause for a moment and discuss Jacob’s cool rocker vibe, perhaps because he is in fact a rock star, and Julia’s plaid/animal print outfit combo? Not to mention Eloise’s tiny yellow polka dot pants. Amazing. They should come dress me.

This was a shoot for the great CoutureColorado Baby blog! This is the place for Colorado mommas and babies to get serious style inspiration. Check out the blog post from editor Janine here.

Kelsey & Aaron & Bebe

I adore Kelsey & Aaron. They are total goofballs and are very honestly in love. We spent some time hanging out in their bedroom. Aaron is the frontman for the band Random Hero and showed off his musical talents while singing a song to his son. We also went for a walk, hung out in the kitchen & Kelsey and Aaron gave me a tour of Bebe’s nursery. It was so sweet to see all the work Kelsey put into the baby’s rockstar room. Plus there were so many important details, like Aaron’s original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle collection, a Random Hero band shirt made just for their little guy, Aaron’s baby shoes and a onesie Aaron’s dad left for his future grandson before he passed away 11 years ago.

While I was in Las Vegas a couple weeks ago for a photography conference, I was hoping Bebe Watkins would stay right where he was so we could still do maternity photos of Kelsey & Aaron. I guess we all hoped too much because he’s still in there! I hope you get to meet the little guy soon Kelsey & Aaron!
